Landscape Supply, Inc. Green Initiative

In recent years, the Green phenomenon has reached nearly every sector of American culture. Being Green means different things to different industries, and often times, unfortunately it is a catch phrase that businesses lean on to direct sales. Yet, in the "green industry," it has become an increasingly well defined movement.

Landscape Supply, Inc. is proud to be a leader in protecting our environment as well as working hard to protect our customers business. While we are constantly working hard to develop, test and market "green products," we are working equally hard to provide a platform for education and raising awareness based on the science of our industry.

The benefits of Landscape Supply, Inc. green initiative include raising tens of thousands of dollars for local, state and regional associations to combat legislation that isn't based on fact, yet instead based on emotion. Benefits also include the awareness of specific organizations that can help facilitate the lobbying of why our industry, when stewarded correctly, can not only protect the environment but also enhance it.

Landscape Supply, Inc. has a wide variety of certified "green solutions" that will allow for equal successes compared to the historic or traditional products. Our initiatives include but are not limited to:

  1. Zero Phosphorous Campaign

Green Products

organicsPLUS:
Landscape Supply's proprietary family of organic fertilizers. Understanding the importance of the environment, organicsPLUS provides a great answer to not only the science of agronomics, yet also the science of the environment. Blended with Ocean Gro organics, organicsPLUS contains a minimum of 50% organics, micronutrients and XRT slow release technology. Meaning, less applications with great turf response. organicsPLUS can feed upto 12 weeks.

Surfcote:
Go Green with Surfcote. Using a patented epoxy coating, Surfcote provides some of the most consistent longevity in the turf and horticulture market. The Surfcote family of products delivers up to 160 days of nitrogen or potassium release. Meaning you can get better results with fewer applications, helping protect the environment. Surfcote uses innovative polymer resin to provide a temperature-dependent nutrient release. Surfcote is also impregnated with Gro-Gard biostimulant for additional root growth.

XRT:
New and improved technology for the turf and horticulture market. XRT offers a consistent 12 week (3 month) release of Nitrogen. XRT uses innovative polymer resin to provide a temperature-dependent nutrient release. As temperatures warm, urea nitrogen is released at a consistent rate to match the nutrient demand of the turf. After complete release, the polymer decomposes into naturally occurring compounds.

Solu-Cal:
Turf Managers know the critical role that soil Ph plays in soil health and turf quality. Optimal soil pH is a major factor in nutrient availability, microbial activity, soil structure and overall tuff vigor. Maintaining the correct soil pH allows for the most efficient use of applied and soil stored nutrients. The Solu-Cal family of calcium and sulfur products allow turf managers to quickly and efficiently address soil chemistry problems. Our entire family of Solu-Cal products contain pHCa Technology.

Roots:
Our family of biologically enhanced nutrients merges nature and technology to offer leading-edge solutions for turf and plant care. ROOTS® is an all-in-one nutrient delivery system that feeds the plant while enhancing the biological life of the soil and plant ecosystem. When amending the soil or fertilizer the plant, superintendents, landscapers, growers, arborists, and nurseries trust ROOTS® to provide consistent color response, improved turf density and enhanced root mass.

Green Resources

Omri Certified: Founded in 1997, the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) provides organic certifiers, growers, manufacturers, and suppliers an independent review of products intended for use in certified organic production, handling, and processing. OMRI is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. When companies apply, OMRI reviews their products against the National Organic Standards. Acceptable products are OMRI Listed® and appear on the OMRI Products List. OMRI also provides subscribers and certifiers guidance on the acceptability of various material inputs in general under the National Organic Program.

Leed Certification: Transforming the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life. Buildings and communities will regenerate and sustain the health and vitality of all life within a generation. Buildings in the United States are responsible for 39% of CO2 emissions, 40% of energy consumption, 13% water consumption and 15% of GDP per year, making green building a source of significant economic and environmental opportunity.

RISE: Facts about pests, the threats they pose to health and safety and how pesticides used to control insects, weeds and pathogens can be used safely and responsibly. Brought to you by RISE, a national trade association of manufacturers, formulators, distributors and other industry leaders involved with specialty pesticide and fertilizer products. The association also monitors legislative and regulatory issues in Washington, D.C. and in the states. On many issues, RISE partners with CropLife America.

Project Evergreen: Green spaces are a great benefit to our environment. They filter pollutants and dust from the air, they provide shade and lower temperatures in urban areas, and they even reduce erosion of soil into our waterways. These are just a few of the environmental benefits that green spaces provide.

PLANET: The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) is an international association serving lawn care professionals, landscape management, design/build/installation professionals, and interior plantscapers.
